John Wright SIMMONS was born 8 Feb 1839 at Miltonmead, Gravesend, Kent (date from family records, place from his marriage certificate #1193) and baptised at Milton next Gravesend 16 Jun 1839 (parish records). He came to Australia with his parents Peter King SIMMONS and Sarah WRIGHT and at least some of his siblings. The family settled in/near Sale when Peter King SIMMONS was appointed the first minister of St Pauls uniting church of England and Ireland in Sale. He married Emma JAMES of Hobart, the daughter of John JAMES and Martha HALEY, on 2 Apr 1862 in St Pauls Sale, the ceremony being performed by his father (marriage certificate #1193). |
